Simplify Real Estate Appraisal Practice for Nigerians, Fashola Tells ESVARBON Board of Directors – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola called on members of the
reconstituted the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) to simplify the practice of estate valuation for ordinary Nigerians.

Fashola, who spoke shortly after inaugurating the board in Abuja, also accused them of integrity and professionalism.

The minister, who also urged them to develop an open assessment for the different regions of the country, and called on the members of the board of directors to regulate the profession and the
quality of the persons who would be admitted there.

“As we reconstitute the new board of directors and work together to rebuild our economy, I urge you to be as professional as you are trained to be.

“So I would like to see, therefore, as you take on the leadership role today after the nomination, these are questions that I think you should put on the agenda in terms of how whose practice you regulate and also the quality of people whom you admit to the practice.

“The importance and the professional mandate of surveyors and real estate experts in the economic growth of the country is really to add value to the land. The main activity they undertake is how the land is transformed from a dormant asset into a valuable asset, ”he said.

Fashola, however, called
those involved in one form or another of business appreciate the value of land as a major asset in capital formation.

In his acceptance speech, Gershom Henshaw, chairman of the Real Estate Experts and Appraisers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), said that since March of this year, when the baton at the head of the board changed hands, the council had started a process to end the payment of the canceled rents.

He said: “We had the groundbreaking ceremony / laying the foundations for the development of our head office. The construction of the office on our land in Jahi district of Abuja will mark the end of the housing problem and its expenditure on service fees incurred by the council.

“We revised the evaluation report template produced by the Board of Directors in 2015. The revision aims not only to maintain a uniform and standard reporting format by evaluators in the country, but also to keep pace with the dynamics of time and changes in the world market. .

“We have recently inducted over 200 (213 to be precise) of the apt and appropriate people as registered property inspectors and appraisers. This has increased the number of people registered in the country.

He said that ESVARBON is ready to maintain good professional conduct by remaining vigilant to ensure that practitioners exercise their profession in accordance with the rules and regulations.
